The East Kootenay is well served with health care facilities.

Cranbrook has a regional hospital with 73 acute care beds. More than 40 doctors and over 20 specialists are based in Cranbrook.

Local hospitals are located in Kimberley, Fernie, Sparwood and Invermere. A medical centre, where patients are not kept overnight, is located in Elkford. Longer term care facilities are located in Cranbrook, Kimberley, Invermere, Fernie and on the St. Mary Reserve near Cranbrook.

Each municipality except Radium Hot Springs has at least one medical clinic.
A moderate range of medical specialists is located primarily in Cranbrook. Complex treatments, such as heart surgery and some cancer therapies, are referred to larger centres in British Columbia and Alberta.
Naturopathic health care is available in Cranbrook and Jaffray.

Pharmacies are located in Cranbrook, Kimberley, Ferine, Sparwood and Invermere.
Rehabilitation services, such as physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage therapy are widely available in many communities.

Dental care is available in all municipalities except Elkford and Radium Hot Springs. Optometric care is available in Cranbrook, Kimberley, Fernie, Elkford and Invermere.

Home support services are available from locations in Cranbrook, Kimberley, Fernie, Sparwood and Invermere.
Counseling and victim assistance services are accessible throughout the region.
Public health services are also provided through the East Kootenay Community Health Services Society from offices located in Cranbrook, Invermere and Fernie and on the St. Mary Reserve.

Housing for senior citizens is located in Cranbrook, kimberley, Jaffray, Invermere and Fernie.
Ambulance services are based in Cranbrook, Kimberley, Invermere, Fernie and Sparwood. E-911 service is provided only in the city of Cranbrook and surrounding rural area (426, 417, 421 and 489 telephone prefixes) at this time. Expanding this service to the entire region is under review.
