| The special events season kicks off each May with the Rocky Mountain Home and Outdoor Recreation Show, followed by the Kootenay Children's Festival both of which have done nothing but get bigger and better each year. June is Cranbrook's premier month for events. Rockin' in the Rockies Car Show N' Shine is always held the second weekend in June. This event features cars and their owners from BC, Alberta and the Northwestern United States. Come and join them for their cruise through downtown Cranbrook, the Lug Nut and Sparkplug Races and the Dance on Saturday evening. Sam Steele Days is Cranbrook's annual city festival celebrating our western frontier history. Join us for five days of pancake breakfasts, dress-up days, the annual Sam Steele Days Parade and the crowning of the Sweetheart of Sam Steele. Dance the night away at the annual Sam Steele Cabaret. Celebrate Canada Day at the College of the Rockies and enjoy the birthday cake and fireworks. Or spend July 1 at Fort Steele and join in their special Dominion Day celebrations. Every second August visit Cranbrook to take in the Cranbrook International Air show at the Cranbrook Airport. August also brings with it the annual Cranbrook Pro Rodeo held at the Wycliffe Exhibition Grounds. This rodeo is always a huge success; join them for the events and stay for the Saturday evening dance. Fort Steele's Harvest Festival is an annual event that just keeps getting bigger and better. Always the third weekend in August this event features period demonstrations and events such as horse farming, sheep herding and cow milking plus old time music and lots more. |
