Cranbrook has many lakes with excellent swimming and picnic sites just minutes away from the City. Here are just a few:

Jim Smith Lake is only 5 minutes from Cranbrook and is a great place to spend a summer afternoon.

North of Cranbrook are Peckhams Lake, Premier Lake, Wasa Lake and Whiteswan Lake, all of which have beautiful beaches and superb swimming.

Enjoy some of the warmest water in the East Kootenays and sandy beaches at Surveyor's Lake, located in beautiful Kikomun Creek Provincial Park, just a 45 minute drive east of Cranbrook.

Moyie Lake offers an excellent sandy beach and is a favourite spot for sail boats. This large lake is only a 20 minute drive west of Cranbrook.

Lussier Hot Springs
Lussier Hot Springs are probably the most popular set of hot springs in the area. They are located just off highway 95/93 north of Skookumchuk. Take the turn off to Whiteswan Lake Provincial Park and drive on a gravel road about 17 km.

Ram Creek Hot Springs
From Lussier, you can reach Ram Creek Hot Springs by way of back roads in approximately 45 minutes. Or, you can travel to Skookumchuk, watch for signs to Premier Lake. Head up Premier Lake Road and after driving 8 km you will pass a turnoff to Premier Lake. Continue traveling straight, now on a gravel road with the Sheep Creek Road North sign. Following the main road for approximately 12 km, the road curves right and up the hill; there is room to park on the left hand side. You will see hot springs trickling towards the road and you will see a path up a slope to the springs, which are in an ecological reserve.

Dewar Creek Hot Springs
Drive St. Mary Forestry Road west from Highway 95A at Marysville for 38.1 km. The turnoff to Dewar Creek Road is 500 m beyond the prominent White Creek bridge. (Avoid the left turn on to the signed West Fort St. Mary River Road). Turn right (north) on to Dewar Creek Road and continue for 22.7 km to the end of the road and park in a large cleared area. Hike in approximately 9 km on a forested horse trail with muddy spots, trail is indistinct in places.
