Chamber presents Business Satisfaction Survey
The Cranbrook & District Chamber of Commerce presented the results of the Business Satisfaction survey to members of Cranbrook City Council on Monday, December 10th.
At the 2012 Chamber Board of Director’s planning session, Mayor Wayne Stetski presented the board with the challenge: to highlight barriers to doing business in Cranbrook, and provide recommendations on how those barriers can be removed.
Lana Kirk, President of the Cranbrook & District Chamber of Commerce, said: “I am very pleased that we received 295 responses to the on-line survey we developed to help us prepare our response to the Mayor’s challenge. This is nearly a 20% return rate, which is excellent for these kinds of surveys.” Kirk went on to say that: “I want to sincerely thank business leaders who took the time to complete our survey. The responses came from all sectors of area business, and they ranged from new businesses, to those which have been operating for more than 20 years.”
Kirk noted that the survey results will be used as a focal point for the Chamber’s advocacy efforts – to the City and to the Province – over the next two years.
The Chamber has recommended to the City of Cranbrook implement a number of the key recommendations found within the survey results. They include:
- An action plan inside the City of Cranbrook to improve the service culture for business;
- Work with the business community to develop a business liaison position to help new and existing businesses navigate the people and processes necessary to succeed; and
- Work with the business community to take a more aggressive approach on the City’s economic development strategy, including regular progress reporting.
