PRESS RELEASE: Cranbrook Chamber Meeting with Federal Commissioner of Employers Re: Labour Market Issues

 

CRANBROOK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETING WITH FEDERAL COMMISSIONER OF EMPLOYERS RE: LABOUR MARKET ISSUES – OCT. 15

 

CRANBROOK, B.C., (October 13, 2021) – The Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce is joining forces with Chambers around the province to meet with the Federal Commissioner for Employers, Nancy Healey, to discuss the labour market issues. This meeting will take place on Friday October 15, 2021. The Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce is calling for the business community to submit questions and share their experiences, which will be shared with Healey. Questions and stories can be submitted through a survey on the Cranbrook Chamber website.

Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Helen Barron, is looking forward to share our community’s experiences with Healy; “The Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce is pleased at the opportunity to engage the Federal Labor Commissioner on behalf of our membership and the entire business community. We have been working closely with businesses and have found that the most pressing issue is the current labor shortage. We look forward to bringing the specific issues impacting our business community directly to the federal government.”.

Healey is the newly appointed Commissioner for Employers and is an award-winning chamber executive with twenty years of strategic and innovative leadership. Healey notes, “I am the new Commissioner for Employers, and my role is to represent employers on matters as they relate to EI […] COVID has expanded my interests which now include the labour shortage and supports for business as we emerge from the pandemic”.

The Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce has been working to provide supports to the business community throughout the pandemic. Past events have included roundtables with local businesses to share best practices, meetings with provincial and federal industry professionals, and have provided resources to the business community.
