Cranbrook Chamber Supports City’s BR&E Survey
All Businesses Encouraged to Fill Out Business Retention and Expansion Survey
Business feedback will help inform City economic development priorities
CRANBROOK, B.C. — September 16, 2026 — The Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce is encouraging local businesses to participate in the City of Cranbrook’s Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) Survey, an opportunity for businesses to provide input into the City’s future economic development efforts.
The Chamber was pleased to work with the City on the initiative and help connect City staff with the experiences and priorities of local businesses.
The survey asks businesses about their current operations, plans for growth, challenges, access to business supports and what role the City and community partners can play in supporting business retention and expansion. The results will help inform the City of Cranbrook’s Economic Development Strategic Plan.
“We appreciate being invited to the table to work with the City on this project,” said Stacey Brensrud, Executive Director of the Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce. “Our members know firsthand what it takes to do business in Cranbrook, and their input is valuable in helping inform how the City supports existing businesses and attracts new investment. This kind of collaboration ensures the business community has a voice in decisions that affect Cranbrook’s economic future.”
The BRE Survey is part of a broader working relationship between the Chamber and City aimed at creating more opportunities for business input on municipal initiatives. Recent work has included consultation with Chamber members on proposed Development Cost Charge changes and efforts to establish a recurring municipal budget consultation process.
For the Chamber, being involved early in these discussions is important. It provides an opportunity to bring the experience of local businesses to the table while also giving members a better understanding of City priorities and processes.
The BRE Survey will provide a broader picture of Cranbrook’s business environment, including whether businesses are growing, stable or downsizing; barriers to expansion; workforce and operating challenges; and opportunities to better support existing businesses and attract new investment.
The Chamber encourages businesses across Cranbrook to participate. The survey takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete, with responses reported in summary form.
