Mentally Healthy Workplaces

Did you know that each week, an estimated 500,000 employees miss work due to a mental health problem? Did you know that this costs the Canadian economy more than $51 billion per year?

Promoting good mental health within your workplace is not only great for positive culture and reducing stigma, but it also makes good business sense.

Mentally healthy workplaces can create a positive culture, boost employee morale, prevent harm to employee mental health, support those with mental health issues or illnesses, and reduce stigma and discrimination for those with mental illnesses.

But how can we create a mentally healthy workplace? You can start by learning about different mental illnesses, then read the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace (or The Standard). The Standard can guide you on how to promote psychological health by providing you with tools and resources.
